Many of you have emailed us requesting that the answer order be randomized while studying; we’d just like to let you all know that your feedback has been heard and that feature has now been implemented =]
As of July 12, 2015 all practice exams and flashcards will randomize the order of answers.
Carry on!

I am trying to log in and after more than 4 attempts the system never emails me my log in info.
Is there somewhere I can call and get some assistance?
Thanks for the great website.

Thanks, the shuffle is a great upgrade. You folks got me through my tech, general and now my extra. This site is by far the best resource for studying for the exams bar none. Thanks for providing it!

I do not like the randomized question order. There should be a toggle..
By kd7bbc November 25, 2015 - 14:23
This is planned for the future; we didn’t have a good mechanism to add it at the time, and most exam sessions randomize the questions, so we made the decision that until we have a toggle it makes more sense to default on than off.

Randomizing the answers is good unless certain answers are “both a and c.” If the answers are randomized, I have no clue which two are correct because answers “a and c” could now be “b and d.”

Have you found any questions which are written this way? If so, which pool and which question? I may need to add some logic to exclude those types of questions. To the best of my knowledge there are no questions like that in the US Amateur Pools, but maybe there are in others.

After a much too long break, I’m back to studying using hamstudy. Is there a way to have it start over on the question pools without creating a new user id? I want a fresh start to assure I cover all of the questions.

The Gen exam I took last July did not have a randomized answer set. The answers were in precisely in the same order as your’s on this site prior to your randomization. This is such a great site and helped me get my Gen ticket so quickly but I find the randomization very frustrating.

A future version will allow you to turn the randomization on or off; we figure that it’s better to learn them with random order and not need to then it is to learn them with fixed order and then have it be random, so this is the default for now, but I agree with you and it will be fixed!

You may want to reconsider shuffling the commercial exam. I can’t across at least 1 question whose answer refers specifically to the letters assigned to other answer choices.

Good to know — I’ll look into that a bit more and see if I can find a good way to selectively disable it for certain tests.

I credit the flashcards for helping me get my General class license in a week and giving me the confidence to go get my Extra very soon. I tell everyone about the site.
I think the shuffle is an amazing way to study in the beginning. After a few weeks of doing the flash cards every other day, I’m wanting to just go through all of the questions once more. Shuffle, in order, it don’t matta. I would, however, prefer it not ask me the same questions over and over, especially if I haven’t been getting them wrong. The first time I looked at all the questions via the flashcards, it seemed to actually go through the percentages pretty quickly. Last time, it got stuck at 95%, then it took forever to get to 96%. I just gave up.

Send us an email at support@hamstudy.org and let’s discuss; I’m not sure I totally follow what you’re saying, but comments aren’t a good forum for a discussion.

Just wanted to let you know. I am studying for my General. I have noticed in the flash cards for the General that my computer locks up on question G4, C11. The explanation shows “loading.” I have to use the “I don’t know” function to get around this question and continue with the flash cards.
Also, I’m having a devil of a time getting the explanation windows to scroll up or down. Nothing seems to work when I want to scroll, but if I’m doing something and I move my mouse into the window it’ll show the scroll feature for about 2 seconds. Any ideas?

I don’t know of any reason that would happen; send us an email at support@hamstudy.org and we’ll see what we can figure out.
